I got the pick of him exiting the track after the practice session with Gary Nixon and Dave Aldana in the frame. Lucky shot.
I met John in 91 at Daytona, got a few shots of Crevier and Gary Goodfellow with the Precursor. Waa there for the triumph and heartbreak in 92 with the new bike. Was at Barber in 15, what a magical weekend. I gave several DVDs to folks with all my old pics, they used them all in the documentary about the gathering. Wish I had taken hundreds more in the early 90's.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12855574984234394602noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2164874096778415414.post-33655962045023802112019-03-31T07:46:28.264-06:002019-03-31T07:46:28.264-06:00Muy agradable de leer. I see it now, John and his all nighters, the team, casting aluminium engines in Kirsteen's kiln. Such a great story. But if we thought Invercargill was the center of the universe; our calculations were off by a few hundred miles only. It seems it was Christchurch after-all.Bring on the movie, I say !Paul O'Connorhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13778196677774882370noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2164874096778415414.post-49583827235567956312017-06-17T22:21:18.031-06:002017-06-17T22:21:18.031-06:00I'll buy that book, when it is published.I'll buy that book, when it is published.Roger Lawrencehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00125879956952848511noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2164874096778415414.post-23086781219638395892017-06-17T02:50:51.636-06:002017-06-17T02:50:51.636-06:00This would have been an amazing event to attend. He was supposed to do a couple of laps- Bob enjoyed it so much he stayed out till it ran out of gas. That was an emotional weekend for any red blooded Kiwi racer. I can remember spectating at numerous races in the 90's when the two factory bikes dominated the New Zealand racing scene- it may be a 'Rose coloured' memory, but I distinctly remember feeling the ground vibrating beneath my feet each time they came past!

A beautifully written article that bought a tear to my eye. I look foward to the book (already have the other two) ;)Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2164874096778415414.post-38526250615390794502017-02-09T02:42:00.375-07:002017-02-09T02:42:00.375-07:00that's real journalism apllied by sincere pass...that's real journalism apllied by sincere passion for the real motorcycle world, that's a true love letter to the Britten bikes and to what John did.
Well done, Jason
Daniele Sabatini
Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2164874096778415414.post-71890116767395130312016-12-03T22:04:21.077-07:002016-12-03T22:04:21.077-07:00Lucky man ... I had no idea what it was at first. They had it on the rollers starting it and maybe 10 people standing around. The sound it made when bumped over was terrifying. That exhaust note sounded less like any motorcycle I have ever heard and more like a war party at full sprint. I took some pics, went home, did the research and realized what an asshole I was for shrugging off such a great opportunity. I did get to stare at it for a while though and just thought to myself, "only a madman could have created that." My questions for you in your research would be to find out why no one has taken the bike further and tried to refine it or mass produce it. Great article as always.
